The Narrated step-by-step video tutorial:
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw a big circle near the top of the paper as a guide for Lori Loud's head. First make four marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. With every step, sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a lid.
Step 2: Draw a curved vertical line across the circle as a guide to help you place Lori's facial features later. Draw a horizontal line for another construction guide. Curve the lines so that they contour to the shape of the circle.
Step 3: Under the head, draw two very short lines as guides for Lori's neck. Under the neck, draw a long rectangular shape as a guide for the body. The top part of the shape should be narrow and the bottom wide. Pay attention to how long this shape is in relation to the head.
Step 4: Draw a long vertical line along the inside, right edge of the body as a guide for Lori Loud's first arm. At the bottom of the line, draw a small circle as a guide for the first hand. Starting on the top, left side of the body, draw a long, curved line as a guide for the other arm. At the end of that arm, draw another small circle as a guide for the other hand.
Step 5: Under the body, draw two long, vertical lines as guides for Lori's legs. Lori is the tallest of the Loud House children so make these lines about as long as the length of the torso. At the end of the line on the right, draw a thin oval on its side as a guide for the first foot. On the left, draw the visible part of another oval as a guide for the other foot.
That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.
Step 6: Inside the head, directly on top of the horizontal construction line, draw two circles for Lori Loud's eyes. The eyes should be on either side of the vertical construction line. Pay attention to the size of the eyes in relation to the head. Use the initial construction lines as guides.
Step 7: Inside each eye, draw a big dot for Lori's pupils. On the side of each eye, draw two short lines for eyelashes.
Step 8: Below the eye on the left, draw a small, curved line for Lori's nose. The nose should be similar to an upside-down letter U. Above the eyes, close to the top edge of the initial circle, draw two short, curved lines for the eyebrows.
Step 9: On the lower half of the head, draw a big curved shape for the Lori's mouth. Use the initial lines as guides for the size and position of the open mouth. Loud House characters have big mouths, so the shape should be similar to a letter D on its side.
Step 10: Inside the mouth, along the top, draw a series of small, square-like shapes for Lori Loud's teeth. At the bottom, draw a short, curved line for the tongue.
Step 11: Darken the lower edge of the initial circle for the bottom of Lori's head. Curve the left side of the line inward toward the eye to create the cheek. Add a small line on the top, left side of the eye for more of the head.
Step 12: On the right side of the head, draw a short, curved line for Lori's nose. The shape of the ear should be similar to a backward letter C.
Step 13: Across the top of the head, draw a series of thin, U-shaped lines for the first part of Lori Loud's hair. The lines should overlap the eyebrows. Draw a total of five U-shaped lines for the bangs or fringe. The lines on the sides should extend out of the initial circle.
Step 14: On the right side, draw two more short, U-shaped lines that cover the top of the ear for more of Lori's hair. Inside the ear, draw a wavy line for the inner ear structure. At the bottom of the ear, draw a short line with a circle at the bottom for an earring. On the left side draw a long, wavy line for the bottom of Lori's hair. There should be two curves at the bottom that almost touch the shape of the arm.
Step 15: Draw a long, curved horizontal line above the head for the top part of Lori's hair. On the left side draw a big, curved, U-shaped line for more of the hair. Draw a smaller U-shaped line closer to the head.
Step 16: To the right, draw a long, wavy line for the outer edge of Lori's hair. Lori is one of Loud House children that has really big hair, so make this line long. Draw three curved, U-shaped lines along the bottom for the bottom tips of the hair.
Step 17: Darken the lines on the left side of the torso to create the thin shape of Lori's first arm. Close off the shape at the to using a curved line for the small shoulder. At the bottom, draw three small, curved, rounded shapes for the fingers pointing back.
Step 18: Darken the shape in the middle for Lori Loud's neck and torso. At the top, draw a curved line for the shirts' collar. Below that, draw two small, curved lines for the chest. Near the bottom, draw a curved line for the lower edge of the shirt. Leave a big enough space on the initial shape at the bottom for the shorts.
Step 19: Darken the lower part of the initial shape for Lori's shorts. In the middle, draw a short, vertical line to split the short's legs. Inside each leg, draw a horizontal line for the shorts' rolled cuffs.
Step 20: Use the curved line on the left side as a guide to draw Lori's other arm. Darken the initial line and add a parallel line under it to make the shape thicker. Don't make the shape of the arm too thick; Lori has thin arms. Draw a series of thin, curved lines around the initial small circle to create the fingers on the hand.
Step 21: Use the line under the body, on the right side, as a guide to draw Lori Loud's first leg. Darken the path of the line but curve the lower part outward to make the bottom shape wider. Add a line on the left to make the shape thicker. Notice that her leg is thicker at the bottom than at the top. Darken the initial oval at the bottom to create her shoe. Add a curved line inside the shape for the shoe's opening.
Step 22: Darken the long, vertical line on the left side for Lori's other leg. Darken the visible part of the foot and add a very small, curved line inside for the shoe.
Step 23: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner Lori Loud drawing.
Final Step: Color your drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use yellow for the hair and peach for the skin. Use black for the inside of the mouth and red for the tongue. Color the top and the shoes light blue and use light brown for the shorts. That's it! You know how a finished drawing of Lori from the Loud House.
