The Narrated step-by-step video tutorial:
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw a small square near the right side of the paper as a guide for the Minecraft wolf's head. First make four small marks to determine the square's height and width. Keep the distances equal. Make the marks longer so that they form a square. The bigger the square, the bigger the head will be. Minecraft uses geometric shapes, so you can use a ruler if you want a perfect square. Leave enough room on the left side for the body.
Step 2: Inside the head, draw two intersecting lines as guides to help you place the Minecraft dog's facial features later. Draw these construction lines across the center to divide the square into four equal parts.
Step 3: On the bottom half of the head, draw two short, vertical lines as a guide for the Minecraft wolf's muzzle. Use the initial lines as guides for placement. Notice how the lines are not directly in the middle but are farther to the right. On top of the head, draw two small squares as guides or the ears. Pay attention to the size of these squares in relation to the head.
Step 4: To the left of the head, draw a narrow square for the first part of the chest section of the Minecraft dog. To create this shape, first draw two vertical lines that are longer than the head. Make the line on the left higher than the one on the right. Connect the lines at the top and bottom to close off the shape.
Step 5: Draw a series of diagonal lines behind the head to complete the front part of the Minecraft dog's body. Don't overlap the shape of the head as you draw these lines. The end result should be a cube behind the head.
Step 6: To the left draw another cube using a series of curved lines for the back portion of the Minecraft wolf's body. To create this shape, first draw three long, horizontal lines that slope upward a bit on the left side. Then close off the shape on the left side using two more lines.
Step 7: Below the front part of the Minecraft dog's body, draw two long, vertical lines as a guide for the front legs. Pay attention to the distance between these lines. On the back portion, draw two more long, vertical lines as guides for the hind legs. The hind legs should be a bit shorter than the front legs. On the top part of the body, draw a sloping horizontal line as a guide for the tail.
That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.
Step 8: Inside the head, directly on top of the horizontal construction line, draw two small squares for the Minecraft wolf's eyes. The eye should be on either side of the vertical construction line. Pay attention to the size of the eyes in relation to the head.
Step 9: Darken the small square on the lower half of the head for the Minecraft dog's muzzle. On the left side, draw a short, vertical line to make the shape more three-dimensional.
Step 10: Darken the outer edges of the initial square shapes to create the Minecraft dog's head and ears. Don't overlap the shape of the muzzle on the bottom.
Step 11: On the left side of the Minecraft wolf's head, draw a long, vertical line to make the shape more three dimensional. Do the same for the ear on the right. Inside the muzzle, at the top, draw a small square that's the size of the eyes for the nose. Below that, draw a horizontal line for the mouth.
Step 12: Darken the two big shapes to the left of the head to create the Minecraft dog's body. Don't overlap the head as you draw the front part of the body.
Step 13: Darken the vertical line that's second from the right for the first part of the Minecraft wolf's leg. Draw two more vertical lines on the sides to make the shape of the leg thicker. Close off the shape of the leg at the bottom using shorter lines.
Step 14: Use the vertical line on the far left side as a guide to draw the Minecraft wolf's hind leg the same way. Darken the initial line and add two more lines on the sides to make the shape thicker. Close off the shape at the bottom using shorter lines.
Step 15: Use the remaining vertical lines under the Minecraft dog's body as guides to draw the other legs. Notice that these legs only have one extra line to the right to make their shapes thicker. The shapes are partially blocked by the previous legs. Use the line at the top as a guide to draw the tail the same way. Darken the initial guide line. Then add a line at the tip and a line at the bottom to make the shape thicker. Then close off the shape on the left side using shorter lines.
Step 16: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner Minecraft Wolf drawing.
Final Step: Color your drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use black for the eyes, nose and lower part of the muzzle. Use light brown for the top part of the muzzle. Use dark brown for the area between the eyes and below the eyes. Color the collar any color you'd like! For the standard Minecraft color, use red. You can also leave the collar blank for a wolf that hasn't been tamed. You can leave the rest of the body blank or you can use a very light gray. If you use light gray, leave a couple of small squares around the eyes blank for extra detail. That's it! You know how a finished drawing of a Minecraft wolf or dog.
