To draw Woody Woodpecker, follow step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, and each step is explained in the text below the photo, so you'll know exactly what to draw in each step.
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw a circle near the top of the paper as a guide for Woody Woodpecker's head. Leave enough room at the top for his big hair. First make four marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. For every step, sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a lid.
Step 2: Draw a curved, horizontal line near the bottom of the circle as a guide to help you place Woody's facial features later. Add a shorter, vertical line on the top, left side for another construction guide. Under the head, draw two short, vertical lines as a guides for the neck.
Step 3: Under the neck, draw a short horizontal line for the first part of the guide for Woody's body. On the sides, draw two longer vertical lines for the sides of the guide. Curve the lines a bit. Close off the shape at the bottom. The entire shape should be similar to a curved rectangle.
Step 4: On the top, right corner of the body, draw an angled line as a guide for the first arm. On the bottom end of the line, draw a small circle as a guide for Woody Woodpecker's hand. It's okay to overlap the shape of the torso.
Step 5: On the left side, draw another angled line as a guide for Woody's other arm. At the bottom, draw a half circle for the other hand. Don't overlap the shape of the torso this time as the hand will be behind it.
