To draw Isabelle step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to go at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below. The new lines in each step are shown in red, and each step is explained in the text below the photo, so you'll know exactly what to draw in each step. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods! Take your time and draw at your own pace.

The written step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Draw a big circle near the top of the paper as a guide for Isabelle's head. First make four marks to determine the circle's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. With every step, sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. If you're struggling to draw the circle, just trace the outer rim of a circular object like a coin or a lid.

Step 2: Inside the head, draw two intersecting lines. These construction lines will help you place this Animal Crossing character's facial features later. Both the vertical line and the horizontal line should slope slightly because Isabelle's head will be tilted.

Step 3: Below the head, draw two long, vertical lines as a guide for the first part of the torso. These lines should be about equal to the height of the head. Close off the shape at the bottom with a shorter line.

Step 4: On the sides of the torso, draw two short lines as guides for Isabelle's arms. The line on the left should point down and the other up.

Step 5: Under Isabelle's torso, draw two short, vertical lines as guides for the legs.

That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.

Step 6: Inside the head, directly on top of the horizontal construction line, lightly sketch two small ovals for Isabelle's eyes. Darken the eyes when you get the shapes right. Inside each eye, draw an even smaller oval for highlights. Shade Isabelle's eyes but don't overlap the small highlight circles. The eye on the right should be higher because the head is tilted. Above each eye, draw a small but thick rectangular shape for the eyelashes. Just like with the eyes, draw the shape first and then shade it in. Don't overlap the highlight circles.

Step 7: Below the area where the construction lines intersect, draw a small, oval-like shape for this Animal Crossing character's nose. Make the bottom edge a bit pointy. Shade the nose except for a sliver at the top that represents highlight.

Step 8: Below the nose, draw a long, curved, horizontal line for the top part of Isabelle's open mouth. Draw another curved line below for the bottom part of the open mouth. This line should be close to the main circle. Inside the mouth at the top, draw a small, square-like shape for the teeth. Add a curved line at the bottom for Isabelle's tongue.

Step 9: Draw a couple of long lines over the eyes that curve outward for the first part of Isabelle's hair. These lines should start at the top of the vertical construction line, and they should graze the tops of the eyes. At the top, follow the edge of the initial circle to draw the top part of this Nintendo character's hair. The shape of the hair should be wider than the initial circle, and it should dip a bit in the middle. Draw a few short, curved lines along the bottom of the shape for the clumps of hair.

Step 10: Use the main circle as a guide to draw the shape of Isabelle's head. Follow the edge of the circle but make the sides flatter and the bottom wider. Make the bottom edge of the head flat. The overall shape of the head should be square-like.

Step 11: On either side of the head, draw a long, curved, vertical line for the ears. Make the top parts of the ears thin and the bottoms wide. The lines at the bottoms should curve up a bit. Draw the ear on the right higher than the ear on the left because of the tilt of Isabelle's head.

Step 12: On top of this Animal Crossing character's head, draw a small, curved line for the hair tie. On top of the hair tie, draw a big, circular line for the first part of the tied-up hair. To the right, draw a small, curved line for the back portion of the tied-up hair.

Step 13: Use the sloping line on the right side of the body as a guide to draw the first arm. Lightly sketch the shape of the arm around the guide. Darken the lines when you get the shape right. Make the tip of the arm round. Add a curved line near the base for the shirt's sleeve.

Step 14: Darken the shape in the middle for the torso but don't overlap Isabelle's waving arm. Draw a short, horizontal line near the bottom of the torso to divide the shirt and skirt. Under the head, draw a small, V-shaped line for the opening of the shirt.

Step 15: On either side of the shirt's opening, draw a short, angled line for Isabelle's collar. Draw a vertical line across the torso with a few circles to the left for the buttons.

Step 16: Draw the shape of the other arm around the guide line that's on the left side of Isabelle's body. Draw a short line near the middle of the shape for the shirtsleeve. Make the tip of the arm round.

Step 17: Draw the shapes of the legs around the short lines that are under the torso. Make the bottom parts of this Animal Crossing character's legs round. Curve the bottom parts of the legs outward just a little bit. Don't make the legs too wide. At the bottom of each leg, draw a short, angled line for Isabelle's shoes.

Step 18: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing of Isabelle from the Nintendo video game Animal Crossing.

Final Step: Color your Isabelle drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use yellow for the top of the hair, for blush on the cheeks and for the ears. Use light yellow or cream for the rest of the body and hair. Draw a shape around the muzzle and leave the inside blank. Use red for the hair tie. Use dark pink for the inside of the mouth, pink for the tongue and light pink for the shirt. Color the shoes brown. Don't forget to pause the video to draw Isabelle from Animal Crossing at your own pace.
