Intro: Start drawing Zelda with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

 

Step 1: To draw Zelda, start with an egg shape that points down in the middle of the page. You don't have to draw it perfectly because it's only a guide for Zelda's head.

 

Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the egg shape, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so they follow the contour of the shape. Draw two smaller lines in between the horizontal construction line and the bottom of the egg. These will be construction lines that will help you place Zelda's facial features later on.

 

Step 3: On top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line, draw two shapes that resemble footballs. Draw the shape on the left slightly smaller because of the perspective. These shapes will make this video game character's eyes later on.

 

Step 4: Draw a curved line similar to a letter C on both sides of the egg for Zelda's ears. At the bottom of the egg, draw a couple of short, curved lines for her neck.

 

Step 5: That's it for the initial sketch of Zelda from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda video game! You have the basic shape for Princess Zelda, so now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Step 6: Darken in the shape of Zelda's eyes to give her thick eyelashes. When drawing the eyelashes, draw them pointier at the upper corners. Also draw a small curve above each of her eyes to represent Zelda's eyelids.

 

Step 7: Finish drawing Zelda's eyes by drawing a series of three circles, one inside the other, that will represent her iris, pupil and glare. Shade in the pupil.

 

Step 8: Above each eye, draw a thick angled line similar to an upside-down check mark for Zelda's eyebrows.

 

Step 9: Now draw this video game character's nose, which is a line that starts at the middle horizontal guide line. It points outward, then curves up to meet the left eyebrow. On the right side of that line, draw two tiny curved lines, one vertical and one horizontal, to create Zelda's nostril.

 

Step 10: Using the lower of the horizontal construction lines as a guide, draw Zelda's mouth. Her upper lip is similar to an elongated letter M. Zelda's lower lip is a curved line similar to a wide letter U.

Step 11: Zelda's crown is tricky, so this section about how to draw Zelda's crown is divided into three parts. First draw the jewel, which is basically an elongated hexagon. On the bottom of the jewel, draw a shape similar to a thick letter V with pointed tips.

 

Step 12: On the sides of that V shape, draw a series of curves that end in points that curve downward. Make this shape has a long, narrow base that descends in between Zelda's eyebrows. Use the image above for further reference when drawing.

 

Step 13: Drawing the rest of Zelda's crown is easy because it's basically leaves that wrap around her head. The leaf size goes from big in the middle to smaller at the sides. Draw a few lines within them for extra detail, and only draw two on the left side as the remaining leaves are hidden behind Zelda's head.

 

Step 14: This section about how to draw Zelda's hair is also split into two parts. First draw the main shape of her hair by drawing a wavy line above the top part of the original “egg” shape. Then draw vertical lines for the rest of the hair, one below the ear to represent the back of the hair and two on either side of her face for her locks.

 

Step 15: Draw a series of curved lines on the top portion of this video game character's hair to indicate where it splits. Draw more curved lines inside the two locks that come in front of her shoulders to represent the pieces of cloth holding them together.

Step 16: Tighten Zelda's face by darkening in the original guide lines. When drawing this line, make it dip inward toward her eye a little to create her cheek.

 

Step 17: Zelda has big pointy ears, so use the initial sketch lines as guides to draw them in. Make them a lot pointier and draw a few lines within the shapes to indicate the inner ear structure. Also, draw Zelda's earring on the right ear using a few lines. Use the above image for reference when drawing.

Step 19: For a more finished, inked look, carefully go over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. Final Step: For a completely finished Zelda drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color her hair end eyebrows brown. Her crown is yellow, and the jewel and her eyes are blue. Zelda's lips are pink, her earring gray with a bit of red, and her hair laces are light brown. Her skin is a peach color. If you don't have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or light pink. Experiment! That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Zelda from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda video games.
