How to Draw Bowser

Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Bowser from Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers video games. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!

Intro: Start drawing Bowser with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

How to Draw Bowser Step 1

Step 1: To draw Bowser, start with a wide oval on the middle of the page. This will be the basic shape for Bowser's head.

How to Draw Bowser Step 2

Step 2: Inside the oval, draw two intersecting lines, one vertical and one horizontal. When drawing the lines, bend them so they follow the shape of the oval. These will be construction lines that will help you place this video game character's features later on.

Step 3: At the bottom of the oval, draw two wide U-shaped curves, one inside the other. This will be Bowser's lower jaw.

Step 4: Inside the main oval shape and on top of the horizontal construction line, draw two right triangles. Only the tip of the triangles should touch the horizontal construction line, and they should be drawn on either side of the vertical construction line.

How to Draw Bowser Step 5

Step 5: That's it for the initial sketch of Bowser from Nintendo's Mario Brothers video games! You have the basic Bowser shape, so now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

How to Draw Bowser Step 6

Step 6: Draw Bowser's nose as a curve right on top of the horizontal construction line. Below this line, draw two small water drop shapes on their sides to create Bowser's nostrils. Draw another small curve near the bottom of the main oval for the rest of Bowser's nose.

How to Draw Bowser Step 7

Step 7: Using a series of curves, draw in the top of Bowser's snout. The bottom part follows the bottom of the main oval and meets in where the vertical construction line is. The rest of it consists of some bumps below the horizontal construction line. Draw in two teeth on the bottom of Bowser's snout.

How to Draw Bowser Step 8

Step 8: Following the main shape for Bowser's bottom jaw, draw a wavy line that starts below the horizontal construction line where the top left part of his snout is. Continue drawing that line all the way to the bottom of his snout right next to his right tooth. Draw the right side of Bowser's jaw as a curve that goes from the horizontal construction line to the top of his snout.

How to Draw Bowser Step 9

Step 9: Using the U shape inside of Bowser's mouth as a guide, draw in four pointy teeth, two on each side of the U. Now tighten the rest of Bowser's mouth by darkening in the mouth shape. Draw another big U shape inside for this video game character's tongue.

How to Draw Bowser Step 10

Step 10: Directly above the shape for Bowser's eyes, draw in his eyebrows using a series of curves and spikes to indicate their bushiness. Draw the right eyebrow slightly narrower because of the perspective.

Step 11: Tighten in the shapes for Bowser's eyes. Inside each eye, draw a series of circles within circles to represent his pupil, iris and glare.

How to Draw Bowser Step 12

Step 12: Behind the left eyebrow and on top of Bowser's snout, draw in the left horn, which is just a pair of curves that meet at a top point. Don't forget to give him a base for Bowser's horn.

How to Draw Bowser Step 13

Step 13: Draw in Bowser's hair using a big curve for the bottom part that sits on his head and a few spikes on top for that weird Mohawk look that this video game character has.

How to Draw Bowser Step 4

Step 14: Finish Bowser up by drawing in the right side of his face, which is just a line that connects his hair to his eyebrow and another that connects his eyebrow to his snout. Draw in the right horn, and again don't forget the little bit of base for Bowser's horn that's hiding behind his eyebrow.

How to Draw Bowser Step 15

Step 15: That's it! You now have a nice sketch of Bowser from Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.

Step 16: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Bowser! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Bowser drawing.

How to Draw Bowser Completed Drawing

Final Step: For a completely finished Bowser drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Bowser's hair and eyebrows red-orange. His horns are a light yellow. The base for Bowser's horns is orange. His face is green, and his eyes are red. The inside of Bowser's mouth and nostrils is a dark brown color, while his tongue is pink. His snout is the color peach like the Princess! If you don't have peach, then improvise! Use light orange or pink, or anything that looks good. Experiment! That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Bowser from Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers.
