How to Draw Vegeta

Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Draw Vegeta 1

Step 1: When learning how to draw Vegeta, start by drawing a circle near the bottom half of the page. This will be a guide for the top part of Vegeta's head. The circle doesn't have to be perfect. It's just a guide. Leave enough room at the top to draw Vegeta's big, spiky hair.

Draw Vegeta 2

Step 2: Under the circle, draw an arc similar to the letter V as a guide for Vegeta's jaw and chin. Don't make the arc too pointy. Notice that the bottom part is rounded for the chin. Both of the shapes combined form the guide for Vegeta's head.

Draw Vegeta 3

Step 3: Next, draw a vertical line that splits the shape in half. This is a construction line that will help you when learning how to draw Vegeta's facial features later on. Under the head shape, draw two smaller lines as guides for his neck.

Draw Vegeta 4

Step 4: On either side of the vertical construction line, draw two small shapes as guides for Vegeta's eyes. The shape of the eyes are triangles with the long sides at the top. Place Vegeta's eyes low inside the original circle, almost touching the edge.

Draw Vegeta 5

Step 5: Inside the lower part of the head, draw a shape as a guide for Vegeta's open mouth. The shape consists of two curved lines on top of each other. Leave enough room between his eyes and mouth so you can draw Vegeta's nose.

Step 6: On either side of the head, draw a curved line similar to the letter C as guides for Vegeta's ears.

Draw Vegeta 7

Step 7: That's it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape of Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series. Now go in and tighten your drawing. When learning how to draw Vegeta from this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Step 8: Above each eye draw a thick, wavy shape for Vegeta's eyebrows. The eyebrows follow the top edge of the eyes. The outermost sides of the eyebrows are thicker than the innermost points.

Draw Vegeta 9

Step 9: Darken the outer shape of Vegeta's eyes and make give the corners a bit more emphasis. Inside each eye, draw a small circle and shade it in for the pupils.

Draw Vegeta 10

Step 10: In the space between the lower edge of the circle and the top part of the mouth, draw Vegeta's nose. The shape of Vegeta's nose is similar to a diamond with the top left edge missing. Draw a line through the middle of the shape to divide the nose.

Draw Vegeta 11

Step 11: Darken the shape of Vegeta's mouth. Inside the mouth, on the top edge, draw a curved line for Vegeta's top row of teeth.

Draw Vegeta 12

Step 12: Draw a couple of curved lines that line the inside bottom and sides of the mouth for Vegeta's bottom row of teeth. Draw a small line at the top for the tongue.

Draw Vegeta 13

Step 13: Use the initial shapes as guides to draw Vegeta's head. Darken the sides of the head as you follow the path of the guides. For the top of the head, use the vertical construction line as a guide to draw Vegeta's big widow's peak.

Draw Vegeta 14

Step 14: Draw a few lines throughout Vegeta's face for extra detail. A few lines above and between the eyebrows give the appearance of a furrowed brow. Lines below the eye and around the mouth give Vegeta a more intense facial expression. He might even be yelling, "It's over 9,000!"

Draw Vegeta 15

Step 15: Use the lines under Vegeta's head as guides to draw his neck. Vegeta is a Saiyan, so he's very strong. Draw a few lines within the shape of the neck to show the strong neck muscles.

Draw Vegeta 16

Step 16: Now learn how to draw Vegeta's hair. Drawing Vegeta's hair is a bit tricky, so it's divided into two steps. First draw the left side of his hair by starting a line on the left side of the neck, under the ear. Draw a the hair by using a series of angled lines to create the spikes. Make the spikes bigger as they move up to the top of Vegeta's head. Finish up by drawing the left side of the top spike high above the head.

Draw Vegeta 17

Step 17: Draw the other side of Vegeta's spiky hair by continuing the line. Finish the top spike first. Draw the rest of the spikes on the right side of Vegeta's head and make them smaller the farther down they are. The line for the hair ends on the right side of the head under the ear.

Draw Vegeta 18

Step 18: Use the C-shaped arc on the left side of the head as a guide to draw Vegeta's ear. Darken the path of the line and make it a bit more angular. Draw a few curved lines within the shape to give Vegeta's ear its structure.

Draw Vegeta 19

Step 19: If you'd like, you you can skip the next three steps and just draw Vegeta's other ear just like you drew the left ear. Otherwise, draw the scouter over his eye and ear. Drawing this gets a bit tricky, so it's divided into three steps. First draw a rectangle-like shape over the eye on the left.

Draw Vegeta 20

Step 20: Now draw the section that connects Vegeta's eyepiece to the earpiece. This shape is also similar to a rectangle. Draw a few lines within the shape for extra detail.

Draw Vegeta 21

Step 21: Draw Vegeta's earpiece over the initial guide for the ear using a curved, oval-like shape behind the section you drew in step 20. Draw a base on the left side of Vegeta's earpiece and a few lines within the shape for extra detail.

Draw Vegeta 22

Step 22: That's it! You now have a nice sketch of Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.

Draw Vegeta 23

Step 23: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Vegeta. You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Vegeta drawing.

Draw Vegeta Last

Final Step: For a completely finished Vegeta drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Vegeta's hair and eyebrows black. His skin is peach, but if you don't have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or light brown. The base of the scouter is light and dark gray. The eyepiece of the scouter is a pinkish-red color, and his tongue is pink. That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Vegeta from the Dragon Ball series.
