To draw this funny Halloween Pumpkin step by step, follow along with the video tutorial below and pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace. You may find it easier to follow the step-by-step drawings below the video. The new lines in each step are shown in red, so you'll know exactly what to draw next. You may want to open the video in a new tab and use both drawing methods. Take your time and draw at your own pace.
Here's a video that goes into even more detail on how to draw this pumpkin:
For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin.
Step 1: Draw a small, curved line near the top of the paper for the top part of the jack-o'-lantern's middle ridge. Sketch lightly at first to get all the shapes right and pause the video to draw this jack-o'-lantern at your own pace. Draw a similar curved line at the bottom for the lower part of the middle ridge. The space between these two lines will determine the length of the pumpkin. The farther apart they are, the longer your pumpkin will be.
Step 2: Draw a curved line on either side of the top line for the pumpkin's side ridges. You can make these lines longer for a wider pumpkin. Draw another set of curved lines at the bottom for the lower part of the pumpkin's side ridges.
Step 3: Draw two more final lines at the top for the outermost ridges of the pumpkin. You can continue adding even more curved lines for more ridges and a wider pumpkin. Draw the final bottom set of curved lines at the bottom too. Try to make the curved lines at the top and bottom match up as you draw the pumpkin's ridges.
Step 4: Draw two long, curved, vertical lines on the sides for the jack-o'-lantern's outer edges. Remember to sketch lightly at first to get the curved shape of the lines right. Darken the lines only when you get the shape right.
Step 5: Draw the stem on top of the pumpkin using a series of curved lines. First draw the sides as two long curved lines, then close the top with a shorter line.
