The written step-by-step video tutorial:
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a circle near the top half of the page. This will be a guide for the top part of Anna's head. The circle doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide.
Step 2: Under the circle, draw an arc similar to the letter U as a guide for the lower part of Anna's head or the jaw and chin. Both of the shapes combined form the guide for this Frozen character's head.
Step 3: Draw two long, curved lines below Anna's head as guides for the neck and shoulders. Don't draw the lines too far apart or she'll end up with broad shoulders.
Step 4: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the entire head shape, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines a bit so that they contour to the shape of Anna's head. These will be construction lines that will help you when learning how to draw Anna's facial features later on.
Step 5: Draw two small shapes as guides for Anna's eyes. Draw them sitting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line. The shape of this Frozen character's eyes are similar to half circles.
Step 6: At the bottom of the main circle, below the horizontal construction line, draw a small oval as a guide for Anna's nose.
Step 7: Under Anna's nose, draw a shape similar to a thin letter D on its side as a guide for her mouth. The top part of the mouth should graze the bottom of the circle and should be very close to the nose.
Step 8: Draw the first part of the guide for Anna's hair on the right side of the head. Start the line on the head to the left of the vertical construction line, then continue the line down past her shoulder. The line should form a point at the bottom, then come back up and end where the head meets the neck. The bottom part will be a guide for when you learn how to draw Anna's braid on the right.
Step 9: Now draw the left part of the guide for Anna's hair. First draw a curved line on top of her head. Then draw another set of lines that come to a point at the bottom for the braid part.
Step 10: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape of Anna from Disney's Frozen. Now go in and tighten your drawing. When learning how to draw Anna fom this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 11: Now learn how to draw Anna's eyes. Tighten the outer shape of Anna's eyes and make the shapes point toward the center of the face. Draw the line thicker at the top of each eye for this Frozen character's eyelashes.
Step 12: Inside each eye, draw a circle for Anna's irises. Inside each iris, draw a tiny circle to represent glare. Draw a bigger circle in the middle of the iris and shade it in for the pupils.
Step 13: On either side of the vertical construction line and above each eye, draw a long, curved shape for Anna's eyebrows. The eyebrow on the left should be a bit shorter because of the perspective of her slightly tilted head.
Step 14: Use the small oval at the bottom of the original circle as a guide to draw Anna's nose. Draw a V-like line at the bottom for her nostrils. Then draw smaller structural lines on the sides and a couple of squiggly lines on top for extra detail.
Step 15: Draw Anna's lips under the nose using the D-like shape as a guide. First draw the upper lip as a set of wavy lines. Then draw the lower lip as a set curved lines. Draw tiny lines on the points of the mouth for this Frozen character's smile lines.
Step 16: Now learn how to draw Anna's hair. Her hair is tricky, so it's divided into four steps. First draw the top right side using the initial curved line as a guide. Draw this Frozen character's hair using a series of curved lines to create three big clumps of hair. Notice that the front of the hair comes very close to the eyebrow on the right, and then ends on a point at the bottom.
Step 17: Use the long curved shape across the right shoulder as a guide to draw Anna's braid. The braid can be difficult, so take your time. Add one bump at a time. The braid is made up of five bumps on each side before the small knot at the bottom, so spread the bumps out.
Step 18: We'll come back to the rest of Anna's hair in the next step, but first draw her face. Use the shape of the head as a guide to draw it. Simply darken the lines as you follow the path of the shapes. Also draw this Frozen character's ear on the right side using a series of curved lines.
Step 19: Now draw Anna's hair on the top left side using the curved line as a guide. Draw the clumps of hair using curved lines that come to a point. The points should cover up part of the eyebrow on the left. Draw a few lines inside Anna's head at the top to show where the hair splits up.
Step 20: Draw the braid on the left by using the pointy shape as a guide. Remember to take your time when drawing Anna's braid and add one bump at a time. The top two bumps on the right are incomplete because her coat will be covering them.
Step 21: Draw Anna's coat in between the braids as two lines that extend from the neck down toward the braids. The buttons that hold Anna's coat together in the middle are similar to hearts on their sides.
Step 22: Darken the lines on the sides of the braids to create Anna's shoulders. In the area between the coat, draw a couple of V-shaped lines for the top of her dress.
Step 23: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Anna, Elsa's sister from Disney's Frozen. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.
Step 24: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Frozen's Anna! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Anna drawing.
Final Step: For a completely finished Anna drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Anna is a redhead, so use orange, red and brown mixed together for her hair. Leave a streak of hair blank on the left side of her hair and left braid. Her eyebrows are brown. Anna's skin is peach, but if you don’t have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or light brown. Experiment! Add a few brown dots over her nose for her freckles. Her eyes are blue, and her lips are pink. Her coat is pink with black trim and gray buttons. The dress under Anna's coat is black with yellow lining and light blue on top. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Anna, Elsa the Snow Queen's sister from Disney's Frozen.
