Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Draw Sailor Gumball Watterson Step 1

Step 1: Start by drawing a big circle at the top of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for the Gumball’s head.

Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the circle, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape. These will be construction lines that will help you place Gumball Watterson's facial features later on.

Step 3: Draw two big ovals sitting on top of the horizontal construction line as guides for Gumball's eyes. The ovals should be on either side of the vertical construction line.

Step 4: Draw a guide for Gumball's muzzle right on top of where the two construction lines intersect and in between the eyes. The shape should be similar to an oval.

Step 5: Below the head, draw a shape similar to a cylinder as a guide for Gumball's body. The shape basically consists of two long lines that are connected by a small arc at the bottom. Below the cylinder, draw two small U-shaped arcs as guides for the feet.

Step 6: Draw two lines that begin at the top of the cylinder as guides for Gumball's arms. The line on the left side angles in toward the body, and the line on the right curves up a bit. At the end of each line, draw a small oval as a guide for Gumball's hands.

Step 7: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic Gumball shape. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Step 8: Darken the ovals that make up Gumball's eyes. Inside each eye, draw a similar-looking oval for his pupils and shade them in. Above each eye, draw a shape that looks like a long oval and shade it in for Gumball's eyebrows.

Step 9: Tighten the shape of Gumball's muzzle by making the top corners sharper. Inside the muzzle at the top, draw a half oval for his nose and a line below the nose that splits the muzzle in half.

Step 10: Under the muzzle draw a long arc that resembles the letter U for Gumball's open mouth. Draw a small line on the upper left corner of his mouth for his tooth and draw a curved line below that for his tongue.

Step 11: Use the original circle as a guide to draw Gumball's head. Draw an arc that comes out of the lower right side of the head for his cheek. Notice that the cheek starts where the horizontal construction line ends. The cheek extends down to the bottom of the circle.

Step 12: On top of Gumball's head, draw two arcs similar to triangles for his ears. Draw three lines on the left side of his face and two lines on the right side of his face for his whiskers.

Step 13: Use the initial line and oval on the left side as a guide to draw Gumball's arm. Make the line thicker to create the girth of the arm. Draw a few lines at the end of the arm for the cuff of his sleeve. Draw a few arcs in the oval to create Gumball's fingers.

Step 14: Darken the middle part of Gumball's body to create his torso. Draw a couple of diagonal lines at the top for his collar. Draw a wide round arc at the bottom for his belly.

Step 15: Inside his belly, draw a horizontal line to indicate the top of his pants. Draw a half oval below the pants for his button and a couple of lines below the button for the creases on his pants. On the lower left side of the torso, draw a long, thin arc for his tail.

Step 16: Use the bottom portion of the initial shape to draw Gumball's legs. Draw a line in the middle that separates his legs. A couple of horizontal lines at the bottom make up the cuffs of his pants. Darken the ovals at the bottom for Gumball's feet and draw a couple of curved lines inside each oval for his toes.

Step 17: Draw the hand on the right by using the initial line and oval as a guide. Thicken up the guide to create the arm and draw a few lines at the end to make his sleeve cuff. Darken the small oval to create his hand and draw couple of curved lines inside for the fingers. Don't forget to include the thumb!
