The written step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

How to Draw Bouquet Dozen Roses Velentine's Day 1

Step 1: Draw two circles near the middle of the page for the top part of the first two roses. Don't draw the circles too big. Leave enough room at the top and bottom for the entire bouquet of flowers. Roses aren't perfect circles, so don't worry if your circles aren't perfect.

Step 2: Above that, draw a row of three more circles for the tops of more roses. Place the circles close together and make them all around the same size.

Step 3: Above that, draw four ovals for another row of roses. Pay attention to the placement of the ovals. Don't spread out the shapes too much.

Step 4: At the very top, draw three more thin ovals to complete the dozen roses. The shapes should get thinner the higher up they are.

Step 5: Below each shape, draw a couple of curved lines for the bottom part of the roses. The bottom part of the flowers should be curved similar to the letter U. The roses at the top are behind the ones at the bottom, so don't overlap the shapes. The row at the bottom shouldn't have curved lines because the tops are tilted toward us. On the side of each rose, draw a curved line or two for the folded petals.

Step 6: Inside each circle, draw a spiral to represent the folded petals inside. The swirls don't have to be perfect. Just make sure they cover the entire circle. It's actually better if you give the swirls a bit of an angle to emphasize the petals inside. Space out the spirals too. Don't loop around too many times.

Step 7: Continue to add the spirals to the shapes at the top. The shapes closer to the top are narrower, so make the swirls thinner too. Remember that you can angle the spirals a bit to emphasize the petals. Alternate the looping from clockwise to counter-clockwise to make the roses more varied. The spirals don't have to be perfect. They're just a representation of the flower petals.

Step 8 (optional): Draw a few short lines that connect the sides of the spirals for detail on the flower petals. These lines shouldn't overlap the swirls, just connect the sides. If you've drawn your bouquet too small, you can skip this step. The roses at the bottom should have fewer lines because the tops are facing front.

Step 9: Draw a series of cloud-like shapes around the roses for filler flowers. Filler flowers are added to bouquets to compliment the main flower. These cloud-like shapes represent a flower called baby's breath that is often paired with roses. Don't make these shapes too big. Add enough to make the bouquet of flowers rounder.

Step 10: Add a few leaves around the bouquet of flowers to help fill it out more. Each leaf is made up of a couple of curved lines that come to a point. Don't overdo it with the leaves. Just add a few to fill in some gaps.

Step 11: At the top, draw a pointy shape for the tip of the sheet that's wrapped around the bouquet of roses. On the right side, draw a curved line for the side of the sheet, but don't overlap the previous shapes. Near the middle, bend the line down to indicate where the sheet is folded. Then add the left side. The bouquet shape under the roses should be wide and then narrower toward the bottom.

Step 12: At the bottom, draw a big bow that's holding the wrapping sheet together. The bouquet's bow is made up of a circle in the middle with a couple of more square-like shapes on the sides. Draw a few curved lines inside the shape to for the folds on the bow. At the bottom, draw a couple of curved lines with V-shaped tips at the end for the ribbon's loose ends.

Step 13: Below the bow, draw a few angled lines for the bottom part of the wrapped sheet. At the very bottom, draw a few rectangular shapes for some of the flower stems sticking out.

Step 14: Using a pen or marker, carefully go over the final lines to make your flower bouquet drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your drawing of a bouquet of flowers the using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use red for the roses. You can also use a different color for the roses, like pink or yellow. Use green for the leaves. Don't overlap into the other shapes as you color. Use pink for the bow and brown for the stems. Use peach or light brown for the wrapping sheet. Use pink for the bow and brown for the stems of the roses. Add a bit of brown to the white flowers too. Don't forget to pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace.
