Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Nicole Watterson from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball. A new drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!

 

 

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

 

Step 1: Start with a small circle near the top of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for Nicole Watterson's head. Leave enough room at the bottom for her body.

 

Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the head, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines a bit so that they contour to the shape of the head. These will be construction lines that will help you place Nicole Watterson's facial features later on.

 

Step 3: Draw a long oval sitting on top of the horizontal construction line as a guide for Nicole Watterson's muzzle. Most of the oval should be on the left side of the vertical line with only a small portion on the right side. Under the oval draw a U-shaped line as a guide for her open mouth.

 

Step 4: Now draw guides for Nicole Watterson's eyes by drawing two big ovals right on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical line. Notice that the bottom right side of the oval on the left is behind the muzzle.

 

Step 5: Draw a long shape under the head as a guide for the top part of Nicole Watterson's torso. The shape should be similar to a rectangle with the top part missing.

Step 6: Draw a couple of lines under the rectangle as a guide for the bottom part of the torso. The sides of the shape bend toward the rectangle, and the bottom is flat. The shape is similar to a letter D on its side.

 

Step 7: Draw a line on either side of Nicole Watterson's body as guides for the arms. The line on the left should point upward, and the line on the right should have an angle and point down toward the bottom of the torso. At the end of each line, draw a small oval as a guide for the hands.

 

Step 8: Under the torso, draw two lines as guides for Nicole Watterson's legs. The line on the left should be straight, and the line on the right should angle back upward. At the end of each line, draw a small oval as a guide for the feet.

 

Step 9: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape of Nicole Watterson from The Amazing World of Gumball. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

 

Step 10: Use the oval in the middle of Nicole Watterson's face as a guide to draw the muzzle. Follow the basic path of the oval as you darken the edges. Make the right side of the oval point up more. Inside the muzzle, at the top, draw a smaller oval for Nicole Watterson's nose, then a small line under it.

Step 11: Darken the U-shaped line under Nicole Watterson's muzzle for the mouth. Draw a small line on the top right side for the tooth and a longer curved line across the middle for the tongue.

 

Step 12: Draw Nicole Watterson's eyes by darkening the initial oval shapes. Draw another oval inside each eye and shade it in for the pupils.

 

Step 13: Draw three small lines on top of each eye for Nicole Watterson's eyelashes. Above each eye, draw a small oval and shade it in for the eyebrows.

 

Step 14: Use the original circle as a guide to draw Nicole Watterson's head. Follow the basic path of the circle as you darken the line, but make the shape more square and a bit less round. When you get to the lower left side, make the line come out in a curve to form the cheek.

 

Step 15: Draw two small arcs on top of Nicole Watterson's head for the ears. The arc on the right should be more on the side of the head than the top. Draw a few lines on each cheek for the whiskers.

Step 16: Use the line on the right side as a guide to draw Nicole Watterson's arm. Follow the basic path of the line as you make the arm thicker. Draw a couple of straight lines at the base to create the sleeve. Use the oval at the end as a guide to draw the hand. A couple of lines at the tip of the hand make up the fingers.

 

Step 17: Draw the top part of the body using the initial rectangle as a guide. Draw a small oval on the left side for the pin on Nicole Watterson's shirt. Draw a few lines at the top for the shirt's collar.

 

Step 18: Use the line on the left side as a guide to draw Nicole Watterson's other arm. Thicken up the arm as you follow the path of the guide. Draw the hand at the end by using the oval as a guide. Draw the two small lines at the tip of the oval to create the fingers.

 

Step 19: Draw the skirt by using the initial shape as a guide. Darken the outer edge of the shape. Draw a diagonal line inside for the top of the skirt and two lines under it for extra detail. On the right side, above her foot, draw a long curved line to represent her tail.

 

Step 20: Use the line on the right side as a guide to draw Nicole Watterson's leg. Follow the path of the guide as you thicken the shape of the leg. Draw the foot by using the oval as a guide. Draw two small lines at the tip for the toes.

Step 21: Draw the leg on the left side the same way. This leg should go straight down. Use the initial lines as guides to draw it.

 

Step 22: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Nicole Watterson from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look, or continue to the step below to go for a more finished look.

 

Step 23: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then erase all of the pencil marks. You now have a finished inked drawing of Nicole Watterson! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Nicole Watterson drawing in its entirety.

 

Final Step: For a completely finished Nicole Watterson drawing, you have to color it. You can use anything you want: markers, color pencils or even crayons! Her skin is light blue. Her nose and the inside of her mouth is pink. The button on her shirt is orange, yellow and green, and her skirt is gray. That’s it!
