Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Peter Griffin from Family Guy. A new drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

How to Draw Peter Griffin Step 1

Step 1: Start by drawing a big circle. The circle doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s only a guide for Peter Griffin’s head.

Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the head shape, one vertical and one horizontal. When drawing these lines, bend them slightly so they contour to the shape of the head. These are construction lines that will help you place Peter Griffin’s facial features later on.

Step 3: Right where the construction lines intersect, draw a small circle as a guide for Peter Griffin’s nose.

Step 4: Sitting on top of the horizontal line on either side of the vertical line, draw small circles as guides for Peter Griffin's eyes. The circle on the right is behind the nose, so don’t draw the whole circle.

How to Draw Peter Griffin Step 5

Step 5: Draw a guide for Peter Griffin's mouth below the horizontal construction line and on the left side of the vertical construction line. The shape is similar to a wide letter U with a line across the top of it that extends to the other side of the vertical construction line.

Step 6: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic Peter Griffin shape, so now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Step 7: Draw Peter Griffin's glasses by darkening the small circles. Draw a small line between them and a longer line as the earpiece on the left side.

Step 8: Inside each of Peter Griffin's eyes, draw a curved line for his lower eyelids to create his goofy look. Draw a dot inside each eye for his pupils. Draw this Family Guy character's nose by darkening the right side of the circle only.

How to Draw Peter Griffin Step 9

Step 9: Use the initial shape as a guide to draw Peter Griffin's mouth. Curve the left side of the mouth up a bit toward the left eye. The bottom part should extend to the right more.

How to Draw Peter Griffin Step 10

Step 10: Add Peter Griffin's chin by drawing a line that starts at the lower part of his mouth and comes down toward the bottom part of the circle. Then draw two semi circle shapes at the bottom using the vertical construction line to split them. Draw a curved line inside of Peter Griffin's mouth for his tongue.

Step 11: Draw Peter Griffin's ear on the left side of his head where the earpiece of his glasses ends. The ear is similar to an upside-down letter U. Draw a small line inside of it to represent the structure within the ear.

Step 12: Add his hair using a series of curved lines. Darken the top part of the circle. Then draw a wavy line above his eyes. Finally draw a curved line on the right side of Peter Griffin's ear.

Final Step: For a completely finished Peter Griffin drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils and even crayons! Color Peter's hair brown. The inside of his mouth is black, and his tongue is pink. Color his skin peach. If you don’t have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or pink. Experiment! That’s it!
