Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake.

Step 1: Start your Bart Simpson drawing by drawing a shape that looks like a can with the sides bending in slightly. Add a smaller can shape at the bottom left side of the bigger shape. This will be Bart Simpson's head and neck.

Step 2: Next, draw a vertical line down the head shape that is in between the center and the right side of the shape. Draw two horizontal lines. One should be slightly below the top of Bart Simpson's head and the other below the middle of his head. These are construction lines that will help you when you're learning how to draw this cartoon character's features later on.

Step 3: Now learn how to draw this The Simpsons character's eye guides. Now draw a circle to the left of the vertical construction line. Place it so that the bottom horizontal construction line bisects it evenly in two. Draw another slightly smaller circle to the right of the first. The right circle should overlap it and come out of the right side of the head. The two circles should look like a Venn diagram. These will be Bart Simpson's eyes.

Step 4: Right below the right eye, draw an oval. The top left side of this oval should graze the left eye, and the right side of the oval should almost touch the head shape. This will be Bart Simpson's nose. Draw a C shape on the left side of his head in between the bottom horizontal construction line and the bottom of the head shape. This will be Bart Simpson's ear.

Step 5: You have now learned how to draw the initial sketch of Bart Simpson from The Simpsons cartoon! You have the basic Bart Simpson shape, so now you will go in and tighten your drawing. When learning how to draw this The Simpsons character from now on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Step 6: Now learn how to draw Bart Simpson's eyes and nose. Start by darkening in the left eye. Next tighten Bart Simpson's nose by only darkening in the right side of the oval and bending down the top of his nose a little. Now darken in the right eye except where the circle overlaps the left eye and nose. Finish this cartoon character's eyes by drawing black dots inside. Draw these pupils on the horizontal construction line.

Step 7: Tighten Bart Simpson's hair by drawing a series of triangles between the top of his head and the top horizontal construction line. Bart has a total of nine hair spikes. Three of the spikes should be on the right side of the vertical construction line, and the rest on the left. Now darken in the rest of Bart Simpson's head, making sure to draw a bulge on top of the right eye to represent his brow.

Step 8: Now learn how to draw the ear and mouth of this The Simpsons cartoon character. Darken Bart Simpson's ear, and draw a curvy T shape inside of it. Draw in the left side of his neck. The top of his mouth is slightly to the left of the main head shape. Curve the bottom of the can shape to give him a smile. Draw a small bulge on top of his neck to represent his bottom lip. Draw a laugh line at the end of Bart's mouth.

Step 9: That's it for the initial sketch! You now have a nice sketch of Bart Simpson from The Simpsons cartoon. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.

Step 10: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Bart from The Simpsons! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete learning how to draw The Simpsons' character Bart Simpson.

Step 11: For a completely finished Bart Simpson drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Just color this cartoon character yellow, and that's it! You have now learned how to draw The Simpsons character Bart Simpson.
